How was SHUUPE born?
It all came about because I wanted a breakfast that was quick, easy, and healthy, but I couldn't find anything that fit the bill. Quick and easy yes, but healthy no. Many products claim to be healthy, but when you look at the ingredients list, you realise they're not. Also, I’m not a fan of protein shakes. I’m a big believer in a balanced diet, including all the major food groups. So I decided to make my own. I did some market research and after having a very positive response, I made the decision to go for it.
Where did the name come from and
was it the only one?
Initially, I was going to call it shake up, but after finding out I couldn’t trademark the name, I went on a long journey trying to think of a new name and in the end, I ended up almost back at the beginning with a near portmanteau of Shake Up. So it definitely wasn’t the only name. Along the way, I went through hundreds of names, some good, and many terrible.
What was your mission at the outset?
My mission was to create a TOTALLY natural breakfast shake, that was super tasty and convenient and would leave you ready to smash your day.
Typical start to the morning at SHUUPE HQ?
I don’t want to come across as one of those holier-than-thou types, but I do like to start the day with either a brisk walk or quick cycle to get the blood flowing, and then it’s a shower and SHUUPE. My favourite at the moment is with added Greek yoghurt and frozen mixed berries and then I’m ready for it.
Tell us a fun fact about you!
Before swapping the cocktail shaker for the NutriBullet I worked in bars and restaurants in London. I once had to chase J.Lo and P Diddy down the street, as they left without paying their bill!
